I have a pretty large mole behind my ear. I was wondering if I should get it removed.

No you should not. It's not visible behind the ear. You should leave it alone. Besides it's a birth mark which is cool.

It depends on the mole. Dermatologists look for the "ABCDs" of worrisome moles:

A - Asymmetry: is the mole symmetrical (could you draw a line through the middle and both halves be the same)?

B - Border: Is the border of the mole smooth (good) or jagged (bad)?

C - Color: Is the color uniform (good) or does it vary (bad)?

D - Diameter: Is it larger than a pencil eraser?

If any of these are the case, you should see a dermatologist to see if it should be removed. Most of the time, a mole is just a mole. Sometimes, however, it can be a sign of melanoma, a very serious cancer.

Is the mole a dark, almost black or black color? Does it move around on you, or is it seeming to be getting larger? If you answered yes to any of these questions you should probably get a Doctor to look at it and tell you if it needs to be removed.

you should consult a dermatologist. if the mole has been there your whole life, has not changed in size/shape, and doesn't have any hair growing out of it, then you probably have nothing to worry about. however, some moles do change and can turn cancerous, so you should have it checked out.

and if the look of it bothers you, you could have it removed for asthetic purposes with very minimal pain.

If it's really pretty, then why remove it?

show it to your doctor and let them decide.
