Yes, it just depends on the skill of the riflemen and of the soldiers holding the machine-gun position, especially if they have smoke grenades, etc.

At West point the Cadets are still shown the classic infantry assault maneuver used on D-Day+1 to knock out 3 88's and 2 MG 42 positions.That was done by a single rifle squad, armed with .30 M1A1 Carbines and Garrand Rifles, with support from a single .30 Cal Browning, under the leadership of a Lt. Richard Winters, 2nd Platoon, Easy Company, of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne.

Since it's possible for one man to take out a machine gun position, yeah, two rifle squads shouldn't have a problem.

But, when I was in the Army, we understood that problems like this is what the artillery was for.

Sure. A squad is any where from 6-10 men. They carry pretty heavy weapons also

I would hope so. I mean that is two squads consisting of four teams. If they cannot maneuver to the machine gun using basic infantry tactics - they would need more training. That sounds like basic stuff.

All it takes is one bullet....if the liberals haven't banned them from the rifle squad......to take out that machinegunner. So the answer is yes.

One highly motivated cook can take out a MG emplacement....Never underestamate the power of one pissed off Soldier of any field.

It's possible for one marine sniper to take out a machine gun position, it happens all the time.
