My son has done this a couple of times too, I recommend putting a shirt on that snaps under the crotch (onesie). My son couldn't get it off.

My little sister does this all the time, and the problem is that when she sits in a poopy diaper for more than a few minutes, it feels uncomfortable (as I'm sure you can imagine!) so she reaches down to see what it is, and then the poop gets on her hands. She does anything she can to try to get rid of the nasty feeling, which is why she takes it off. And the reason she "paints" everything with the poop is now it's on her hands so when she goes and touches things she would normally touch, they get poopy.
My advice is to try to keep closer tabs on your son so you can change him right after he poops; then he won't have a chance to get uncomfortable and won't need to take his nappy off. Sometimes kids poop at certain times every day, try to watch and see if your son usually poops at a certain time, say half an hour to forty five minutes after lunch or something like that, and then you'll know to watch (and smell!) him closely at that time.

OH NO, you too I have been through this with my daughter it is sooo nasty! But I have read that you don't make a deal over it positive and negative attention is almost the same at that age! so put the diaper on backwards start potty training and make it a great experience to use the potty!!!!!! lot more fun than painting your room!!!! steam cleaning fun I know good luck

Yeah, I agree with the suggestion to put the nappy on backwards. It will make it harder for your little one to take it off.
You could start potty training too...if your going to be scrubbing poo off your floor, you may as well be doing it because of a learning curve!

Stop hitting him. That's not going to teach him to stop taking off the diaper, it is only going to teach him how to hit and that hitting out of anger is perfectly acceptable. First thing is that I suggest you keep an eye on him better. If he does this during a nap, cut out the naps, Or invest in an audio monitor for his room so you can at least hear what is going on if you don't want to check up on him.

Well your name is artsy fartsy so i guess it runs in the family. LOL. It's phase that you will have to endure, I feel bad for you though. Talk with your pediatrician for tips, but remember nothing is more fool proof than just letting it ride out.
