He loves everyone else, but when he sees a black person he goes crazy and chases them. No one had any influence on his behavior, but he still does this even when I tell him "no." What's his problem?

I'm his only owner. He lived with only me for the first year of his life and then with me and my husband for the second year. He's been doing this ever since he was only a few months old.

First off, I understand YOU are not racist... pay no attention to the morons who don't appreciate a serious question when they hear one. No one trains their dog to be race-aggressive!
We had a German Shep that hated men, anyone in a hat, or dark-toned people. We finally figured it out...
Dogs are color blind, so they see in shades. When someone is wearing a hat, has heavy facial hair, or has dark skin tones, the dogs cannot see their faces very well. This intimidates them and causes them to be aggressive.
Your dog is NOT racist and neither are you. He's just scared, which is what you should explain to anyone if they ask. Just keep exposing him to different people and praise good behavior... he may eventually adjust, but just understanding him should help a lot.

I had a Black Chow Chow that did the same thing, of course she did not like any stranger but was more aggressive towards black people and any person in fatigues. The reason I was given was because they are color blind. The dogs see in Black, White and shades of Gray, a white person the animal can see definition of facial structure and expressions due to the lightness of skin and shades of gray. When it comes to black people these shades of gray can not be distinguished and therefore it only looks like a large mass in human form speaking like their master. As for the people whether white or black in fatigues, it was because of the disorientating pattern on the uniform that set her off.
There is really nothing that can be done about it except if you have black freinds to have them come over ignore the dog that way it will at least get used to the scent of that person and not be aggressive towards them.
I hope this helps

My dog starts licking off my makeup if I get close to her. Eyeshadow, blush and lipstick. She hates seeing dark shades on my face...so maybe seeing all dark is scary for your dog. I hope that this doesn't become a problem for you.

Most likley someone was teasing him or owned him before and abused him. Something happened and he/she is associating the color and size of people to the person that did it.

Maybe he doesn't know what they are. It sounds stupid, but your dog may think African American people are dangerous because they aren't familiar to him! My dog is a little racist too... silly dogs!

well, if you adopted him, maybe he was abused and doenst like them because the person who abused him looked similar.
if your pup is adopted, this is probably right.
