first question is does the dog answer to the name shaggy ? for if she does it will be confusing to the dog to change it. so you just have to see if she will answer to other names, if not you are stuck with shaggy and you can just give her a second ans she will be SHAGGY_________?

If the dog is used to a particular name, I think it is helpful to choose a new name that starts with the same sound - in this case "SH". However, any dog will probably adjust quickly to any name if you use the new name frequently and reward them for recognizing it. Don't be afraid to be creative - make up your own name if you like. How about "Shayla"?
