My mother in law had breast cancer about 4 years ago, she then had a breast reconstruction.

Recently she's been diagnosed with liver lesions and needs chemotheraphy.

Has anyone known someone close to them that has had liver cancer? What is the prognoses?

My husband and I are pregnant with out first child, and first Grandchild for my mother in law, I really want our child to grow up knowing her, what are the chances???

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Not very good I'm afraid. She may be fairly limited in her time unless they have got the liver lesions at an early stage

I'm not exactly clear on your question -- are you looking at a "new primary" liver cancer or is this metastatic disease? The treatment would be different for both, as well as the prognosis.
If your question is in regards to a liver primary lesion, chemotherapy is not typically given, with the exception of a direct infusion intrahepatic pump. This sort of device targets the cancer directly, limiting systemic side effects. My experience with this is really towards colon cancer with metastatic lesions to the liver; again not a liver primary.
If the liver lesions are due to breast mets, then the liver lesions are treated as breast cancer -- that's why it's important to know the primary source. I wish I could be more specificfor you; I know you must be terribly worried about your mother-in-law. Do look into the American Cancer Society. I believe you will find what you are looking for, as well as lots of other resources.

Hi sweetie, my mum suffered from liver cancer. First she was diagnosed with bowel cancer and then secondaries in her liver. Usually when there is cancer in the liver it is secondary cancer. My mum used to go to the Royal Marsden Hospital(London) for treatment and there she was told that if she only had bowel cancer she would have more chance or survival but not with the liver cancer but this does not mean that it is going to be the same with your mother in law, every person is different. My mum sadly passed away on May 2006 after fighting cancer for a year and 5 months. I wish your mother in law all the best for the future, with this disease everyone has to have lots of patience. Good Luck and God Bless you all.

I wish I could be the bearer of better tidings then I have. I'm a nurse practitioner and have worked extensively with Oncology and Hospice. Cancer of the liver, is a very serious disease and one that usually has only one ending, and it is very quick. I'd like to say that the chemo will work and she'll be fine, but sad to say that is not the case....or very rarely the case, giving you some sliver of hope.. Hope is all we have sometimes, but I don't want you to build mountains upon mountains of hope and be suddenly and devastatingly let down. You and your husband need to spend as much quality time with her while she still is with you and let her know how much you love her. You don't say how far pregnant you are, but if it's many months, there is the likelihood she won't be here to see the child. I know you probably wanted better news than that, and I truly wish I could give it. God Bless you all!

My father had liver cancer and was treated with a procedure called thermal abalation. Look it up on Yahoo or Google. The results were absolutely miraculous. It was a local anaethetic and basically the cancer was 'cooked' by high temperature levels. It disappeared within two weeks and he is now completely clear of cancer. remarkable! Please try to get your mother-in-law's doctors to consider it. It's not a common procedure, but I can personally guarantee that the results are miraculous. Good luck and God bless.

I just saw a phase on Oprah's new Sunday show about a girl named Kris Carr. She had 16 tumors on her liver and also had melanoma in her lung(s). She made up our minds to take manage of it and is now in just right health; no chemotherapy or different artificial medications. She did it all by means of strengthening her white blood cells via he weight loss plan. She's written three books that I ordered the previous day. Seem her up and notice what you believe. She's a great human being and uber clever. Sorry about your father and that i wish you the entire fine!

In 1990, I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 3-B, but I've survived. My doctors were great people, but they were limited to surgery, chemo and radiation by profitable AMA treatment policy. During the year in treatment, I started learning about alternative medicine. I'm a retired engineer, and this is what I've pieced together--our IMMUNE SYSTEMS become weakened by poor nutrition, lack of exercise and reduced oxygen. Once that happens, our body becomes vulnerable to common STRESSORS. Stressors can be environmental, like viruses, heavy metals, pesticides, food additives, electromagnetic waves or pollution. They can be internal things like emotional or job stress, or poisonous people in our lives. Aging is also a contributing factor. So this means:

WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM + STRESSORS = DISEASE (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.)

Our bodies have 60 trillion--yes, trillion--cells, and there are always some mutating into cancer cells, but a healthy immune system kills them before they have a chance to get a foothold in the body.

It takes a LONG time, usually, or a high level of stressors, to weaken the immune system to the point where it won't do its job, but once cancer has formed, it will generally spread rapidly.

THIS IS IMPORTANT! There are ways to BEAT cancer that are currently being used in Europe and around the world, and there are some great books on the subject. I know because I've read about 50 of them from cover to cover. Here's a list of the best ones. Some are out of print and getting hard to find--

"The Cure for All Cancers", ISBN 0963632825
"A Cancer Therapy", ISBN 0882681052
"Oxygen Therapies", ISBN 0962052701
"Hydrogen Peroxide--Medical Miracle", ISBN 1885236077
"The Natural Cure for Cancer--Germanium", ISBN 0533071410
"Killing Cancer", ISBN 0705000966
"Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About", ISBN 0975599518

I know of people whose cancer has 'spontaneously remitted' (WENT AWAY for no known reason) AFTER they went on programs of herbs and nutrition to restart their immune systems.

You and your family must look out for yourselves to stand a chance of being healthy. This is not a joke, and I'm not selling anything--just trying to help.
I am using the things I learned in those books right now to fight off a second infestation of cancer. I've been at it for over a year now, and think I'm going to make it. Use what works for you, and pass on your success. Best of luck.

AMA AND FDA--
The American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical companies control medical law and the FDA in this country with heavy lobbying and a revolving door policy. WHY would they want to do this? It's about the money. In 2004, medicine (doctors, hospitals, researchers and pharmaceutical firms) received 1.1 TRILLION dollars--1/4th of the total earnings (GNP 4.4 trillion) in the U.S. This is astounding, it means MILLIONS of people worked the whole year just to pay the nation's medical expenses!! That's totally astounding, and just too big to care about individuals.
