I think they can cause kidney failure, yes. And when they do you must IMMEDIATELY apply for disability if you live in the U.S. I read somewhere that kidney failure was one of the things where they usually automatically label you disabled, so you would be able to get money from the government that way. I know this cuz I'm trying to get disability and have researched it.

Sounds like cystitiis. The common signs and symptoms of a cystitis attack are: a sharp burning, stinging sensation when you pass water an urge to pass water more frequently even though there may be very little to pass a feeling of not emptying your bladder completely . You can get stuff over the counter at the chemist for this, like Canestan Oasis, also drink loads of drinks and cranberry juice. I know it sounds crazy telling you to drink loads when you're already spending a lot of time in the loo but it does help. Any woman can suffer from cystitis but some are more prone to this condition, for example: Younger women (who may be prone to more sexual activity) Pregnant women (whose body changes can make them prone to urinary infections) If you are under 18 - and it sounds as if you are- it is always best to get to the doctors as well in case the infection sets up recurring problems. [ I had a case of it several years ago and was treating it myself but the infection got so back it turned into nephritis - inflamation of the kidneys] which was NOT pleasant. So go and get the stuff, drink loads but definately see the doc early next week.

You really need to find out what causes your kidney infections. If you do not get the infection properly treated or controlled you can indeed cause your kidneys damage resulting in failure. I am very sorry to tell you that but it is true. Please get in touch with a doctor who knows alot about kidneys.

Yes,
Concurrent streptococall infections can set someone up for acute or chronic glomerulonephritis or nephrotic syndrome. If let untreated this is indeed kideny failure

Yes, that is why it is very important to treat ongoing infections and keep on taking prophylactic medications to prevent recurrence.
Wish you good health.

You need to be in the hands of a Renologist....not a general practitioner. To answer your specific question, yes, they can cause renal failure. What is your current renal output...has anyone measured it? How about your BUN or Creatinine? These values are very important in your care.
