If you don't mind a dog that's not a puppy look into a rescue, there are TONS. www.petfinder.org and search by your zip code. also www.drna.org will help you find the perfect dachshund but you're not likely to get a newborn puppy with either. While they do have young dogs the average is adult 3-5 yrs. The bonus there is if you get a housebroken one you save yourself a HUGE headache. Dachsies are notoriously stubborn and housebreaking them is more challenging than your average dog. Its also less expensive to adopt if that helps compel you to look at a rescue

I ddont in texas, but my mother in law in main breeds them and one of her dogs just got tagged recently, so if you wish to pay for one to be shipped down, I believe she does that, then just let me know, but the only thing I can say for your texas searching is go to your local shelter or call an association.
