In short - no.

So many people want to be actors and the internet is bursting at the seams with new "Talent Database" websites that promise to get people "seen by casting directors" and have access to "exclusive casting calls." In reality, most of these are next to worthless. They are expensive (this one is $20/month, well above the going rate for legitimite sites of this type) and ones like this that are (frankly) catering to amateurs are cluttered with amateur notices - low or non-paying jobs, student films, and worst of all "modeling" notices that are often thinly veiled come-ons from pervs looking for vulnerable women.

I had never heard of talent6.com and I am a working, union actor who has been in the business in major markets for years. I took a look at it after reading your question because I am always "on the lookout" for the next place that is looking to exploit aspiring actors. these are the things I noticed, and I'll tell you what you should be looking for, instead:

1. Too expensive. The site charges $2 set up and $20/month hereafter. I didn't look enough to see if there are hidden charges such as charges to change your picture or upload a video. The places I am a member of range between free to $10/month. I'll go into more detail about them below.

2. Notices look unprofessional. The notices didn't look like paying notices and they seem cluttered with non-acting jobs like "looking for a composer" or other behind-the scenes work. While there might be a few decent things on that list, you'll probably have more luck finding this kind of stuff on craigslist.org - which is free.

3. Pictures look unprofessinal. The shots that show up on the front page (of users) don't look like professional models or actors. While they may be fine up and coming young talent, it says something about a talent database that the pictures they choose to put on the front page (promoting their service) don't look like people who are clued in to what the standard is for casting.

4. Not regional-specific. What's the point of a casting database that's casting a job in Atlanta when you live in Cincinnati? You should find a place that has stuff for YOUR area specifically. The major casting websites all are broken up by region.

5. Advice -on acting isn't worth paying their monthly fee. Get your acting advice free here or the dozens of other acting discussion boards. Don't waste your time or your money.

Without knowing where you are located I don't know what website will work best for you but I can at least point you in the right direction. You should look at actorsaccess.com - it is free to browse and you can either join ($67/year I think) or pay $2 for submitting per-project. I live in LA and get tons of auditions from this website. It is a subsidiary of breakdown services, which is where the job notices for major paying film and tv work are released privately to talent agents. You can't look at those, but more and more casting directors are choosing to make the notices public on actor's access so it's getting busier all the time. This website also offers sides (the scripts for your auditions) and divides the auditions into regional categories (toronto, Austin, LA, NY, Chicago.) However, the offerings in categories besides LA are weaker - less casting people outside LA use the service.

Another good one (but very LA based) is nowcasting.com - it's $10/month to join and submit for casting notices. I get auditions from this as well and they have a lot of non-union notices that are still legit (helpful to your devlopment as an actor and not a waste of time.) They also have a helpful e-magazine and lots of information. I think this is a good resource just for reading and advice, although again I might not join unless you are in LA. The other one that is used a lot in LA is called LAcasting. It is the number 1 site for commercials, but it is more of an insider thing - most people are on through their agencies and you might not get as much benefit from membership if you don't have a talent agent yet (and definitely not if you live anywhere but LA.)

a few other good resources are backstage and backstage west, the websites of the unions (sag.org and actorsequity.org which have lots of advice for actors and some limited casting sites and casting calls) and your local craigslist.org which surprisingly a lot of people use for casting notices.

Look, I really hate it when actors get exploited and there is so much of that out there. Talent6.com doesn't look professional to me, and it falls squarely in the category of a place that might help, but is more likely to just waste your time and your money. Being an actor is hard, and there is no real substitute for training and experience. Get out there and take a good class which not only trains you but gets you a group of people you know that are also actors and that really helps you to become part of a community. Good luck.

well i guess it all depends on what your interpretation of sin is. I don't mean your friends i mean yours. If deep down you feel what you are saying or doing is wrong .. that small voice that tells you maybe you shouldn;t do that .. then don't do it. In regards to acting tho.. there's so many different reasons to act and become an actor. Would you call it a sin to act out our historical past? or ppl that do movies about awareness?? they're actors.. is that really a sin??
