Actually, I have been in that situation. My ex-boyfriend had a similar condition. I was very hesitant at first, but as he warmed up to me, I began to look deeper inside of him, it then went away, in my head, but not on his skin, but it was really ok, I began to forget about it, we were meant to be. Before we were together, he let his skin define who he really and truly was, even though that wasn't supposed to be the case. He wore turtlenecks sand long jeans in the summer! When I came along, he began to do become more confident and began to wear clothes that showed off his skin, because I let him know that his condition doesn't define him, it is what's inside. Happy to help you, Gabrielle!

Honestly, I can't say that I would have some adverse reaction if my boyfriend had exczema. It's a hereditary condition and it's something you can't change. It doesn't matter one way or the other to me.

It's no different if someone told you they had high blood pressure or cholesterol, there is medication to help ease both of those conditions. My neice has exczema and I may think - poor thing for being itchy all the time, but that's what her medicated creams are for - to help treat it.

And if it is bothersome - someone sure is mighty shallow and I'd say you probably don't want to date her.

firstly can i say i cant believe the superficial people who have answered this question, even if it was the truth. My sister has just got married to the most amazing guy ever, he sends her flowers and sweet text messages to let her know just how much he loves her and is a complete star! he has really bad exczema but it doesnt make the slightest bit of difference to anyones views of him and nor should it. its whats inside that counts, and people who take into account something as minor as a skin condition shouldnt be given the time of day. it doesnt make a difference whether they have the most perfect skin in the world or the worst skin disorder in the world, it truly is whats on the inside that counts.
hope my view on this helps you out. take care xx

Can i ask why this is even a problem? Who cares. If you like the guy then a treatable skin condition shouldn't make any difference. Makes me wonder.... who you be asking the same question is he had heavy scarring after and accident or would you just love him and be there for him anyway?

*ADDED LATER*

Well if that's the case hun then don't worry. Having exczema isn't a problem and any women who makes it seem like a problem isn't worth your time! :D

I dated this guy with kinda bad exczema on his back but he was hot so who cares. But besides that, if you really liked the guy and he liked you back it shouldn't matter if he had a skin condition. What if it were YOU. You had a skin problem, do you want people judging you or wishing they were with someone ELSE who didn't have that problem? Put yourself in his shoes.

in al honesy it would depend on the severity of the condition and were it was. if it could be covered with clothing i would be ok about it but if it all over face and neck otr he wore tshirt and short and legs and arms covered i would be a bit grossed out.

However my saggy belly after three kids looks far worse than any skin condition so who am i too judge??!!!

His smile shone through. And then he made me laugh. I wasn't going to notice much else after that. Sure you notice, but it isn't that important after a time, the trick is to have other qualities that catch the eye and a beaming smile has to be near the top of the list

I used to have it myself, so for me my reaction would be the same with a guy who had it and a guy who didn't. But maybe that's just because I understand a bit more about it.

I think it would be determined by how much I got to know him before I knew he had exczema. If he had it in places that weren't visible in public, and I got to know his personality such that I really liked him as a person, and he explained his condition to me before we went further with the relationship, I think I'd be fine with it.

No it wouldn't, but there are plenty of good tretments out there for eczema, if you've got something from the Doc and it's not working - there are a host of other treatments x. Don't worry honey. xx
