what about a substitute for shortening?

If you have a blender or a food processor, you can put regular sugar in it and pulverize it to the consistency of confectioner's sugar.

If you have a food processor take regular white sugar and process it until it's powder that's all confectioner's sugar is! and Shortening you can use butter or margarine

you do know that powdered sugar is the same as confectioners sugar right ?

it is simply ground up sugar

NOPE. But if u have a food processor u can take regular granulated sugar and make powdered sugar

You can use Powdered sugar or Icing sugar, they are the same thing.

i would think splenda would be good since it has the same taste as sugar.
