The Japanese Spaniel is a charming, lively, and happy animal. Pleasant, loving and intelligent. Affectionate and extremely devoted to its master. This breed loves everyone. With its gentle ways and charming manners, it is perhaps best suited to homes in which there are no small children. If you do have small children, teach them to be nice and gentle with the dog. They are good with other dogs and pets. The Japanese Spaniel has a mind of its own and likes to be the center of attention. This breed is not a barker. Mild mannered, elegant, yet playful. Sensitive, agile, dainty and clean. This breed is more obedient than most toy breeds and are good dogs for learning tricks. They are also good watchdogs.
Height: 7-11 inches (18-28 cm.)
Weight: up to 9 pounds (4 kg.)
There are two classes of Japanese Spaniels: under 7 pounds, and over 7 pounds.

I would get a Japanese Chin. They are adorable, unique, and are much more intelligent than most other toy breeds. And another positive is that they don't bark! But they do shed a lot, so if you don't like fur, don't get one. They are very small, so you'd have to be sure to not step on the dog or let it jump off of high levels, such as a bed or couch. And if you can find one at a shelter, that's awesome. But if otherwise, buy from a reputable breeder. Best of luck!!! ♥

A Japanese Chin is a wonderful dog! I had one for a month, but he passed away due to health problems. (the person who got me her as a gift got her from a petstore, which is not a good idea) but she was such a sweet heart! She got along wonderfully with my Pekingnese, which they looked almost exactly alike. She would have gotten about 12 pounds tops, as the vet said she would be like my pekingnese who is 11 pounds.
I love Jap. Chins. As long as you raise him/her with your two poms. from pup hood, they should all get together fine.
And here is a pic. of my pekingnese, gizmo :]
just so you have a little picture of what size, weight your chin will get to.

I don't know how they will get along, I think Chin's typically have a good termperament.
They will be a similiar size to you pom, around 10 pounds or under. You may want to consider the opposite sex to your Poms (if they are the same sex.) It will make the introduction a little easier.
They are super cute, aren't they?

I think you should get a hamster. They get a lot bigger, and they are more fun to take on walks!
