No, they will not let you go to MEPS while you are still overweight.
The reason for this is that your current weight means you are not presently eligible for enlistment. There's no point in sending you to the MEPS if you do not meet the requirements for enlistment, and MEPS would just tell you the same.
There are a number of ways to drop the 18 lbs that you need to loose. Try your local health store first and see what diet teas they sell. A number of those work quite well - but be prepared that they work by giving you the runs.
Consider a change in diet and cut down on what you eat considerably, while exercising more. Ask if your Air Force recruiting station does PT at the station, or elsewhere, and whether you can do PT with them to help loose the weight. If they don't or won't let you come, try working out elsewhere - you can get a month membership to a gym and work with a trainer there to help you drop the weight. They'll also be able to advise you about how to keep your exercise program going later on and can probably help with diet as well.

I am an Air Force recruiter and if you are over you max weight they will tape you at MEPS. For males you have to be 20% or under. Just cut out sodas and sugars and get active. I have had people lose 60 lbs to enlist for me

Eat salads, cut off all sodas and heavy desserts. Dont eat after 7pm. work out for 1 hr a day cardio with wearing a sweatsuit. running, jumping jacks, punching bag, etc. keep moving to keep the sweat going. still drink water. dont eat lunch. eat a lite breakfast-1 or 2 bowls of unsweetened cereal. eat supper at 5pm-salad, lite meat, medium amount of bread, dessert every other day (lite dessert). Go for a walk/jog at nite for whatever amount of time you want. Im a wrestler, so I know how to cut weight.
The girl below is right and wrong. Plastic will help ou cut weight fast, but not permeantly. It is also unsafe. It will make you feel tired and sluggish.

you can probaly go in on a wavier. it is only 18 pounds, try to lose what you can before going to MEPS. once you to go to BMT you lose weight .
Just start what you will be doing at Lackland,
drink 3 glasses of water befroe you eat your meal.
(they do this so you can hydated.)
No MORE FAST FOOD at all, I don't know if your rcruiter told you at there is a Mc Donlands on the other side of the fence which is tempting during PC. don't hop the fence !
Start Running! walk where ever you have to go.
No salty snacks at all!
Good Luck!

You can fail weight and still pass tape. Meaning that even though you are above the limit, if your body fat percentage is lower than the allowed limit, you will be able to get in regardless. Some people are heavy, but not fat. it can be from muscle, or bone structure, or whatever. Otherwise, get to a gym. walk or lightly jog about 1 hour a day, something.

It took me 5 times to get through MEPS b/c of my weight. I had taken ex-lax, Hollywood Diet & water, fasting, running, & just eating light in the end.
I have heard that you can wrap plastic wrap around your stomahc & thighs to shrink your measurements.
Good luck.
