I'm trying to either swap my in-line 6 for a 302V8 and perhaps put power steering to my car. I also want to swap the tan seats for all black seats.

Just thoughts:

A 6 to V8 swap is more than just taking out the 6 and dropping in an 8. All of the front suspension parts in your car right now are not set up to handle the extra weight of the V8. Although this swap is VERY "do-able," unless funds are limitless, I would not have a shop do this swap. The price for parts AND labor would be pretty hard to swallow. Coil springs, drag link, pitman arm, spindles, 5 lug rear, radiator, throtle linkage, are some of the parts that will be needed. Believe it or not, it is not that difficult to put any of these parts in, it just takes some time. Power steering is also a straight forward install, just $ for parts and some time. You can purchase new black vinyl for your seats, a set of hog ring pliers, and some hog rings and have nice black seats quicker than you might think.

Long story short, Im encouraging you to do this yourself and not take it to a shop and pay a ton of money for somthing you can do for MUCH less and get some enjoyment out of. Good luck, have fun

That's going to be quite a project. You will probably need a stronger transmission and bigger rear end... If it's a convertible you will need to reinforce the frame... Why not keep it original? It's worth more with the original engine in it..
