I am going to see my dentist tomorrow i was just wondering if anyone had been through this and may have some idea of what it is. I know it isnt an abcess of any description but it is painful. I have not had dentures yet so i know it is rubbing or such like. Thanks to everyone who answers!

I had my teeth extracted 5 weeks ago!

THIS IS NORMAL CONSIDERING YOU HAD A FULL-MOUTH EXTRACTION. THE SWELLING WILL DECREASE. THE IMPORTANT THING IS KEEP WELL HYDRATED AND TO EAT A VERY SOFT DIET FOR NOW. CANNED BEANS ARE GREAT FOR THIS PURPOSE, AND LOTS OF JUICE TOO.
GOOD LUCK.

You didn't say how long ago you had your teeth removed, so I can't tell you whether it's "post-operative" swelling or something else. But, if you're going to your dentist tomorrow, he or she will see the swelling and be able to figure it out. God Bless you.
