This is totally a waste of time to even answer back to this question.
First off, how do you think this world came to be, a magical fairy?
Puh-lease.
Jesus Christ is the answer.
He made all of this.

My grandfather was a very wise man, and he once said that if someone has to tell you how great they really are, hold onto your wallet and run like hell in the other direction. If he were alive today and read that opening bunch of bushwa about all of your "common sense" and "higher faculties," he'd already be halfway home by now.
Do you have any concept of how intolerant and arrogant that really made you sound, or are you so intent on belittling Christians that you really don't care? Posts and attitudes like this are about to cause this Christian to lose the respect that I've gained for atheists during my time here at R&S.
But to answer your question, being a Christian is peaceful, rewarding, and secure. I know Christ is my Savior, I have a purpose in life, and I have no cause to fear death.
Can you say the same for yourself, even with all of your so-called "higher faculties?"

It must be frightening.. I mean, you always gotta be worrying about whether or not god is going to approve of your private lifestyle, thoughts, and friends. I feel so much more free knowing that this life is mine, and mine alone.. I can be happy, sad, hopeful, excited, confused, angry, satisfied, joyful, or bored.. and god has absolutely nothing to do with it! I can help other people because it's the right thing to do, I can live a good life just because I WANT TO. Not because I am afraid of being tossed into eternal torture by someone who "created" me and is suppsed to "love" me. How stupid! You are right about church being totally wierd... and when you think about it, how many christians actually LIKE going to church? Not too many I can think of! They are always like "sorry, I have to go to church.. ughh.." or "I really dont feel like getting up for church in the morning"... I'm like.. THEN WHY ARE YOU GOING? If god knows everything about you then I'm sure he will know that you don't feel like being in his "house". Hmmm... I'm sure your god really appriciates that... LOL

Nope, I am not lonely, empty or scared. I don't kneel to a man, I kneel to Christ. Christ loves the Church inspite of it's faults. Jesus will judge the Church but after that He will bring judgement on the unbelievers. Now if He can call us to task with no problem, what will He do with those who reject Him? I wouldn't get so cocky.

No way, i know the being who created me and i know that he loves me so much that he died for me, why would i be lonely when he is always there for me? why would i be frightened when i know that he has defeated everything bad even death and why would i feel empty when my heart is filled with the love of God?
I dunno what church you have been to but in my church we have no images of jesus cos that would be worshipping idols and i don't worship in front of 'a robed man waving his hands all around and pronouncing the fate of mankind as if he were God himself'. Most of the time our minister is dressed in jeans and a shirt and i do not need to go to church just to worship God when i can worship him wherever i am and in whatever im doing.

1) Being a Christian means you are never alone, empty, or afraid.
2) If that robed man you mentioned was Jesus, then He is God.
2a) If you were just talking about a preist, then no, he is not God. And if he's a good man, then he would never say he was God.
3) Not every church has a statue of a crucified body of Christ hanging on the wall. My church doesn't. This is b/c Christ is no longer on that cross. He resurected, remember?
4) (And I'll end w/ a question) Isn't it lonely, empty, and frightening not having Christ in your life?

I'm sure Christians feel very fulfilled. I suppose if they need to believe in supernatural beings in order to get through the day, that's their business. I just wish they would stop trying to convince us non-believers that we're missing something.
On the other hand, maybe that's why they try so hard to convert us; misery loves company.

You confuse Christianity with catholicism, Honey. You need to study up on the difference between the two. Maybe then you wouldn't be so scared to try Christianity. It's a relationship; NOT a RELIGION! We worship GOD, NOT MAN!!!!!

Well, yeah. I used to be a Christian and whenever I was lonely I would talk to my imaginary friend (called "God"). When I was frightened, I prayed to him. Nothing worked, that's how I remained: lonely and frightened, relying on my imaginary friend because I wasn't emotionally strong enough to rely on myself.
So I said "screw this" and became an atheist. Everything is much better now. ;)

Amen. Add that to a church that a friend of a friend goes to that the congregation is trying to save enough money to visit Somalia (I believe) but not to help, oh no, to go look around, and then spend a week in some country club and then go on a safari....
Very Christian, wouldn't you say?

Obviously you are not familiar with all Christian churches. Not all are as you have described.
