For example, crusades during Middle-Age, Religion against Science during the Lumieres, or God advising Bush for Irak...
Do you really believe in God?

Okay, God is all in your mind, but if there's religion war all over the world, it's not the same.
For me it's the same, everybody have the right to have 'faith', but we have to know that in some countries in the world, some people die for that (Americans, Irakians, Muslims...).
I wonder if one day USA will be laic, it's unbelievable that you've to swear on a book wrotten by some Roman politics to controll their population.

I believe in God because there is no way that all this came around without some divine intervention. As for the Crusades, the Inquisition, Bush, etc. Those were humans doing the talking. They found a way to perverticize religion and use it for themselves. Religion is a way to give people comfort and understanding. Yet these people used it to control the masses and carry out their will by scaring people. However, it is not God/Yahweh/Allah/etc. who did this. God would not intervene personally to tell people to kill his own children. People pretend to get their own ways across. What we need to do is think for ourselves and ask ourselves "Would this be the way God wanted us to act?" Instead of the church or Bush, lol.

People use God to control other people, this is true. That has been a problem since the inception of religion, furthering one's own egotistical ideas through God.

Oh absolutely.

The idea of a God has been a control issue from the word go.

Organized religion is what controls people, not Divinity. Divinity sits back and offers advice when needed, but does not say "GO START A WAR IN MY NAME." Politics and religion, that's what controls people... (and the public school systems)

Of course that is the entire purpose for the invention of God. Now days politicians use God to influence people and win elections.

possibly, but
there was an article in the Washington Post about how these were people protesting because the U.S. has the technology to basically put voices in your head, and that some of the people suffering from mental disorders or committing crimes because the voices told them to were actually sane, just affected by the testing the government was doing.
Hows that for control?

War is not about religion, never has been. God is not in Bush's cabinet. Yes, I believe in God. God and science get along fine. It's people who either try to put them at odds or make unsupported claims.
