If you show responsibility and maturity in other areas, then likely this will go a LONG way towards your request for a pet.

As a mother, my biggest problem with my children getting pets is that they can't even take out the trash without reminding, so how can I rely on them to remember to feed, water, and take care of an animal? So far, despite all the "I PROMISE I'll take care of it" I end up owning and caring for these wonderful must have pets.

Good luck... I hope you get it. Research which bird you want, what it needs, and why you want it.. and show off your knowledge and research. That's always a good way to show that you really are interested and it's not just a phase. Offer to do dishes and take out the trash, and carry through (but don't say "Look, I did this so now get me a bird" or it'll look like you're only trying to get a bird, not be responsible)

They are great choice for a beginner bird, you can try and talk to her about that. They are relatively easy to take care of compared to your parrots and such. You have to remember that they live anywhere from 10 to 25 years (depending on care and where you get it from.) Just convince her that you are willing to care for it. Ya know do extra chores around the house, work extra hard in school...that kind of stuff. I recommend doing a lot of research on it as well and just tell your mom cool stuff about it. If you take the time to learn about it and let her know....she will be more likely to consider it.

They are very delicate and may die and leave you heart broken, they also require cleaning and visits to the vet from time to time, some take a bath and make big mess from time to time, so think about it they are good pet but they are not toys.

Children get fed up with the work that goes with it and adults end up taking the care of them.

Birds are best when left in the wild. Imagine being in a cage with no room to flap your wings, and never being FREE! Better to watch them in their natural environment. For more info log on to www.helpinganimals.com/ga_ flyfree.asp

What does little birdie say?
in her nest at peep of day,
let me fly says little birdie, mother let me fly,
mother birdie says, birdie wait a little longer
till your wings are little stronger,
so she waits a little longer
then she flies away -

the bird says - hum panche unmutk gagan ke pinjarband na ji payenge

well in my opinion, birds should not be kept as pets, they should be free.
