credit comes in 2 forms, secured and unsecured. If you have no collateral, and can get a credit card do a cash draw on the credit card to pay the bill. (unsecured).. If you have a car, house or other asset that have equity value borrow against the equity in the form of a secured credit line. It will require you place your car title or have a lien placed on your home for the value of the loan. Which in the event you sell the asset you've be required to pay off the credit line.

A personal loan is an unsecured debt. You already have an unsecured debt. Given the choice, I would rather negotiate payments with the doctor/hospital than with a bank.

Well good luck then, pop into a local bank and see what they say. It sounds like maybe you need to talk to a financial advisor and you two can work our a budget for yourself to pay your bills on time and also pay down your debt.

If you are contributing to a 401k then you may borrow against it. Check with your financial company regarding this. Its not really recommended however, but in an extreme emergency, you can give yourself a loan.

The first thing you need to do to get a loan is to prove that you do not need it.
