For the new age followers who believe this:
''All humanity—indeed all life, everything in the universe—is spiritually interconnected, participating in the same energy. “God” is one name for this energy.''

So, when i am praying to God, i am praying to the energy there is in the universe? Has energy consiousness?

i know the question is stupid, but i am learning,lol....sorry guys, i had to ask...

This is a fun one to tackle. Alright yes the universe in and of itself is all connected. All of the energy and space is all one. Now the wrench in all of this is consiousness. "God" is the name we have given to the consciousness that as best we can guess is the reason that we exist. Now as far as praying goes, I'm a fatalist so I'll have to explain some things real quick. Think of our existence as being on a rubber band, the big bang, to the dark end. When it's all said and done and the course of events have played out to conclusion the rubber band with all of those events will snap back to the point where it began, and go again. Like anything there is going to be some wear and some tear, and having extreme levels of faith and the willingness to express to the universe the ideas that you have about the direction you would like to have your life go. It more often than not is of your own power and belief that 'prayers' get answered than the universe personally looking after you. We may just be a quark in the relitive scale of existance, or we may be what it's all about.

I hope my ranting gives some scope.

Words are chosen to define concepts that exist withouta name prior to that. God being used to define what you described can be acceptable. As for your question, well, in a sense, yes you are. You are praying to connect with the energy present in the universe.

As for wether it has to be conscious or not, that is another deal. A mistake we often make is to try to understand things in terms of human perception. Maybe the "god" connection does not need a consciousness. Its faith, dont rationalise it and find inner peace through it, that's what I can recommende you to do.

Whether or not energy has consciousness is a long debated question. Many believe that yes - it does. But whether or not that consciousness is like our consciousness is another question. I think it's up to each individual to decide if there is a consciousness to energy or deity or whatnot. Usually that's based on personal experience and/or experiments.

prayer is focused intent
and our intent , our thoughts are energy
when we send those thoughts out they are reckognised
people believe this collective consciousness to be God.. that wholeness and oneness
and the natural law will act upon your intent

in a sense you answer your own prayers as part of that consciousness

your conciousness is God's consciousness

you are not separate from either God or the Universe
