In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings

A.V.1611 Bible-Says...
(Before salavation through Jesus Christ shed blood) Rom 3:23,6:23 Yes! (by the definition of the word "agent" = That by which something is accomplished or achieved)
According to the Bible an unsaved person certainly is an AGENT of satan.
John 8:44 Â Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
But remember this: God made away for us to becom his children.
Romans 8:14 Â For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:19 Â For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Philippians 2:15 Â That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
1 John 3:1 Â Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1 John 3:2 Â Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
See Rom 10:9-13
Once we accept Christ as saviour we are no longer Satans children but are Gods. And we automatically qualify to be Gods AGENTS or actually Ambassadors for christ.
2 Corinthians 5:20 Â Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
I hope this answers you question. God bless!

If you do not know who you work for, then Satan is the default.

You may be. I think we all are from time to time. When we are disrespectful without need, when we are spiteful or cruel.
