He was dating this girl for two years. They were all about one thing though. Sex.

She treated him like ****. He stopped hanging out with his friends. Stopped doing anything. They broke up last September. He had been using drugs when they were dating but it got worse when they stopped.
We started dating in November and he hasn't used a single drug since the night we started dating. I know this for a fact. He tells me his last relationship was horrible and that he always felt like ****.
He says that he's never felt as happy as he feels now.

But I still worry.. I don't know. What do you guys think?

You should base your feelings and decision to be with you on how he is with you, but be mindful of his past without holding it over his head.

It could be he learned his lesson or even repelled at the idea of going through something like that or it could be a character flaw that might resurface in the future when he is unable to cope with a situation that stresses him. Life does not come with any guarantees.

The difference may be that if he has someone who truly cares about him, like you, instead of someone who only wants to control and manipulate him for her own purposes, like his ex was, help him get through the troubling times and be emotinally supportive and he may never feel the need to escape reality again.

Good luck!
