My kitten does this ALL the time.

Cats have scent glands in their cheeks and they will mark lots of things with them to show their love or ownership - the door where their food is kept, you, the book you are reading, the door frames of the rooms they go in and out of, etc.

Your kitten loves you and is bonding with you - your lucky to have an affectionate cat. It's also a big sign of happiness.
Your kitten would rub you in other places if it could reach them. If you were sitting down, he would rub your elbow and your side etc.

Cats exude feel good pheromones, called " facial pheromones": they like to rub these and mark things when they feel happy and safe. This means kitty is happy to see people and is feeling good.
Most cat sprays for stress contain this invisible and no-smell to humans pheromone.
Kitty likes it.

Aww I love it when Sammy does that <3. This means that they really love you, and that they're claiming you as their territory. Sometimes they do it on chair legs, or anything like that.

for one they want to love you for two they are putting thier scent on you saying your mine!! My cats do it when they want loving or I'm in the kitchen and they want what I'm making lol.
