I am going to say that the only thing that a denomination does is cause a problem. Think about how many times someone asks you if you go to church and the second question out of their mouth is what denomination are you? It seem like it's only a reason to dispute theology. I carry my own set of beliefs, but I don't feel like I need to push the fact that I am very Reformed in my thought.
Here is a website to many different articles, if you Google "mongerism" that will help.
I would stay away from denominations, though, you will just be safer that way.
Or just find a church that you like and attend, if your beliefs somewhat match up.
oh and by the way, the Bible is the final authority, but it doesn't mean that we don't add in our interpretations some times!

I have attended several different types of churches, ie, Methodist, Baptist, COG, Pentecostal, LDS, and Catholic, and I can't say one was better than the other. I agreed with some of the theology of each and disagreed with about the same amount of each. I believe the Bible is the final authority in Christianity but remember, the King James Bible was written to please a king. So I don 't believe it is necessarily the true Bible. I think we would have to go back to the original scriptures, all of them, and judge for ourselves what true religion is. Also, for every person who reads them, there is an opinion about what they say. I think you do the best you can to decide what you believe and choose your church accordingly.

For me, personally, it would be the Episcopal Church. For you, it might be some other denomination altogether. Our church tends to have a three-part focus on Scripture, tradition and reason. We don't ask you to blindly accept doctrine. Questions are encouraged. The rites of the church are very old-fashioned and steeped in tradition, yet it is a vibrant, modern church. The best of both worlds.

I am Roman Catholic. I stay with our church because we are the original church founded by Christ and His Apostles. Orthodox also are very much like us and are also directly linked to Christ and the Apostles. Both churches have existing congregations actually started by some of the original 12 apostles. I attend other churches to see what they teach and how they worship. Any that actually can be called Christian are teaching things that originated in our Church because they are following the original teachings or at least some of them.

THe Roman Catholic Church, this is why: If you research what the early church fathers believed (direct disciples of the apostles), they believe in many Catholic tenets, such as the real presence of Christ in the holy eucharist, The Virgin Mary, etc. The CAtholic church is the original church of Christ founded on St. Peter (the rock) and has existed for 2000 years.
Ignatius of Antioch In his Letter to the Smyrnaeans he wrote: "Where the bishop is present, there is the Catholic Church [A.D. 107]

I like non denominational churches. They haven't labeled their christianity- it's just kind of like 'hey we get together and worship God. Join us if you want, if not, thats ok.' all christians are on the same team anyways, right?

I believe that no denomination has it "all right" or "all wrong". Even within a denomination you will have some churches that are more somber others more joyful.
God Bless.
