thanks to everyone so far! I ask because i ordered some at a steak house and i couldnt chew em. and i was just wondering if it how they are suposed to be

beef tips (of any cut) should be either cooked for a very very short time or a very very long time to be made tender. if you are lucky enough to get beef filet (or tenderloin) tips, try cooking them very briefly, to no more than medium rare. otherwise, you will need to brown them off & slow-cook them for a couple of hours in a nice red-wine sauce.

Mostly depends on preparation, and a little on how tough the
meat wa that the tip came from

It's possible that they were overcooked. You can marinate to reduce toughness, or use a meat tenderizer if they have not yet been cooked.

No, but if you order them or cook them well done they may be. The worst thing you can do to good beef is cook it too long.

no they are suppose to be very tender
