You sound like a very sensitive person, intelligent and talented. You've studied music for 8 years? You should know then that the journey of art is completely about how it makes you feel. How you express it in poetry or music is all about how it makes you feel. If others don't connect with it doesn't necessarily make it bad. Life is YOUR journey and if others want to join in on your experience then that's great. If they are telling you how to steer, when to turn left or right, to slow down, to go faster, that you are a terrible driver...maybe you should ignore all those voices and "drive" where you want to go. Let them worry about their own journeys. You are the master of your universe, sweetie. Your focus is everything. If you have fun at what you are doing, then you are learning and finetuning your interests.
You can't let your emotions depend on what others will decide it should be for you or you will be doomed to live a life dictated by others. Doesn't it sound better to decide for yourself what makes you happy?

You sound like a nice person. And nobody has the right to make you feel otherwise. If you enjoy writing poetry and music, DO IT! Dont let anybody tell you otherwise. It is your life, and nobody should be able to degrade the things YOU love. Im around your age, and just DOING something, anything, is great! You dont have to be good at it. As long as you have a passion for your hobbies, never give up. And about this guy, if he cannot see that you are a nice girl, maybe he is not the right guy. Im sure theres a guy out there who shares your interests and is perfect for you.
Good luck! And remember, make sure to talk to someone you trust about your problems. It does a lot of good to get the weight off your chest.

Just so you know--depression is nothing to be ashamed of. It's a health condition as real as a broken leg or catching the measles. Would you be ashamed of telling someone you may have broken you leg or you fear you might be getting a fever? No. Similarly, you shouldn't feel ashamed for feeling bad. You should tell anyone you can--lots of people may not understand it, but that is their ignorance, not yours.
As far as your poetry--just keep writing. No one on a yahoo group has ever read some one else's poetry and liked it--some frustrated stranger is no reason to give up something you could be very good at.

You've got the talent to write songs. That should be very positive in your life. Think of all the positive things going on in life and don't focus on the negative things. If your depressed you should consult a doctor that can treat you with the depression. You can be put on medicine that makes you feel better overtime. There's more guys in the sea to know maybe when your a little older and when your ready for a relationship.

You do not stink at everything you do.
I was wonderful in art in school, and even my teachers said so but everbody around me was like oh that sucks You Suck.
So I stopped drawing.
Then I got older got a job and started drawing again even won a blue ribbon in the fair.
I got married a few years later my husband told me I sucked and that I should never draw again.
Again I listened and stopped drawing.
We divorced and I found myself needing extra cash I went into a bakery and they were trying to figure out a design for a lady that had came in looking for a wedding cake.
I picked up a pencil and drew her a design after that they called me in to be a wedding cake consultant.
Moral to this story is, If you have a passion about something never give up that dream not for anyone.
I mean it. I don't think i would hang around this guy anymore anyone who is not for you is againt you and you don't need them Contact me anytime.Kel

Listen when a guy makes you feel bad he is a total jerk,
if he were a real man he would stay and help you during your down time.
well you are good at something for sure,
you have convinced yourself you are a complete failure at everything ,
you feel it is important to please your friends ? and wish to have their support when you have done right.
sad but true. But if they were good friends they would do just what you said they did,
tell you you did fine, your real prob is.
its that boy friend thats has to get some walking papers if you look into his past my bet is he treated his mother like a slave and demanded everything and gave nothing in return ,
you are great the best but now if you stop fault finding all bad in your life you have only one direction to go.
and that is up.
When you try something your satisfied with and proud of ,
then you have done the first thing right, and get rid of that idiot . they suck the blood out of of stone. go find a guy that treats his mom like a queen he will do the same for you.

Don't let other people tell you if your work is good or not. If you feel it is good, then it is. Obviously you write for your own pleasure not for fake people on the internet. Just live life. It's easy, it all starts with breathing. It takes more work and energy to be hurt and angry all the time. Make a concious decision to wak up every morning and tell yourself "Today is going to be a good day"

you are so young to be bothered by a strangers judgment on a poem. it might not have been good, so what. it's a poem. you will find what you are good at eventually. you will be alright. keep writing if you enjoy it. i used to write songs and poetry and i have some from way back when. honestly they weren't good because of my immaturity.
i feel that those people gave their honest opinion of your poem and you did put it out there for them to judge. you can't blame them. take this as a positive thing and tweak your poems. i would love to see some of your songs. good luck.

Take 5-HTP. It is the herbal equivalent of an anti-depressant without all the horrible side effects. The NOW brand in the orange bottle is the best and cheapest. Here is a link to read about it:
