Somestimes a person is in so much pain, they want to be told it's okay to let go.Death for some is the way to end thier personal pains. When you are ill you may not be able to do it yourself so you reach out to ease your suffering.Suicide is not an answer but more a question of self doubt in a time of need.A person wants to know how and if his or her life is going to be okay.In our minds we can think,we did not ask for life but we CAN ask for death.Just because someone askes to die it does not mean they WANT to die. They just may want to have a sence of control in and over their life.

They may feel that asking the doctor is the best way - all too often people attempt suicide with whatever pills they have in the house or buy for the purpose. Their attempt may not work - they may make themselves sick and lose the effect of the drugs. If somebody is determined to commit their suicide - it is their right to choose to die this way. However, it must be considered whether asking for assistance is ethical.

well, yes, thats true but the person might be ill in bed in the hospital or they don't want to suffer and ask for the doctor's knowledge of medications to give them a painless death by pills rather than shooting themselves or overdosing which can ruin the body for an open-casket funeral. that's my perspective on it...

I wondered something like that and came to the conclusion that going and asking to die is braver than staying in and dieing alone on your own.
That might not be right, just my thoughts.

a vet will euthanize an animal to put it out of it's suffering.
a patient might hope that a doctor will do the same for them.
i've heard it called "dying with dignity"
(i'm not comparing people to animals)

some people cant do it them selves if they have a prolonged illness and eventually they are going to die then i would say they want to die sooner rather than later especially if nothing works anymore
