My fiance and I go to NYC every year around Christmas time. My sister and her bf, his cousin and his brother all came as well. When it finally got dark we went to Rockefeller Center to see the ice skaters and the tree. There's a bench in front of a fountain and if you stand on the bench you get the perfect picture with the tree in the background. We finally got up on the bench after waiting for tons of people to go through and waited to have our picture taken by my sister. I noticed the crowd got quiet and my sister was crying and realized what was about to happen. He turned me around right there on top of the bench in front of hundreds of people, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. People started cheering and clapping and some people were even crying(including myself)! It was absolutely AMAZING. I will never forget it, plus we have pics! :)

I can tell you about the one that I want to have...
My boyfriend is an Aggie and was in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M and they have a tradition where Aggie men ask their girlfriends to marry them under the Century Tree. Its a really huge old tree on campus. Also, guys that were in the Corps of Cadets at A&M have their current corps guys do a sword tunnel under the tree and the guy asks the girl and if she is going to say yes,she walks through the sword tunnel where he's waiting on the other end on his knee with the ring. Our family and friends could even be there too. Its a tradition thing, and I wanted to go to college there and becuase of some circumstances I didn't get to. I would love to have this tradition as part of our "story" that we can tell our grandchildren about one day.

Well I think that the way my grandfather proposed to my grandmother is the most romantic I have ever heard of.
After they had been seeing each other for a while, my grandmother began to think about marriage, so she would often hint at it to my grandfather who never seemed to realize it. Everytime he came to see her she would put a record of Hank Snow singing "With this Ring I Thee Wed" in the record player. Halfway through the song, my grandfather would turn the record over to Hank Snow singing "I'm Moving On".
My grandmother said that she always wanted her fiance to be really traditional in his proposal. She wanted him to kneel down on one knee, hand her a ring and ask "Will you marry me?". It didn't work that way. One time before my grandfather left her house, he turned to her and simply asked "Is it alright if I bring a ring next time?" That was his proposal. Simple, yes, but I found it to be really sweet.

My sisters was pretty awesome. My parents had just gone through a really hard time and as I was still in High School I went through it with them. So one night my sister decided she was going to come get me so my parents could figure out what they were going to do and I didnt have to deal with it. We were both in the owrst moods, neither could stop crying and to boot traffic was horrible. When we walked into her apartment her boyfriend was there waiting with pizza. There was a birthday gift on the table and she didnt want to open it and finally he coaxed her into opening it. It was a shirt box so she had no idea this was it. When she opened the lid on the bottom of the box was written "Will you marry me" and the ring box was taped to the middle open with the diamond staring right at her. It was awesome.

My best friends was good too. It was Christmas morning and she had curlers in her hair and was rushing around to get things ready for their company. As she walked by the tree she saw a box and asked her bf what it was. He grabbed it andsaid it was a gift he forgot to put under the tree for her and she could open it if she wanted. So she did and it was a piece of coal, she was so p'issed yelling how did he think that was funny when she was so stressed out before company. And he said "No, wait. When you put it in your hand and squeeze it real tight it turns into a diamond" and he opened his hand and there sat her ring. So awesome.

Me on the other hand- worst proposal in the history of proposals. I have to live vicariously through other people's good proposals.

I loved when my brother proposed to his now finacee. She is in a sorority and everytime a girl gets engaged they pass around a candle during the meeting and when it gets to the girl who is engaged it stops at her and she blows it out. At one meeting they lite a candle and started passing it around and it ended with her holding it. She held the candle in her hand and looked around at all of her sorority sisters and asked what was going on. They started grinning and my brother walked out, got on one knee and said that he couldn't live his life without her and asked her to marry him. She said yes of course and they are planning on getting married next year.

so how did your finacee propose?

-airplane spell it out
-pinic at the beach and write it out in the sand
-have it put into the girls food so she begins eating it and takes the ring out not know what she was eating and surprise
-have it up on the movie theatres what is playing, and instead of having what is playing it has, will you marry me "name"
-Have it spelled out on a big balloon ride and than go for a ride later
-just cozy and snuggle up at the fireplace, rost marshmellows and than he proposes
-have someone pre set up a hotel room, with a great view such as niagra falls, and have the jet bath with bubbles and rose petals everywhere, candles everywhere and a bottle of champane

There are a lot of sweet ways, I am sure your man did a really sweet one too! CONGRADS

Each proposal is beautiful in there own way. I don't know if you can compare it to another. I really enjoied mine ( I think most women who get engaged will say that).

We got Engaged at our Friends wedding Rehearsal (I usually know when something good is going to happen and I was the only one who didn't know. Everyone who was present was aware and both sides of the Bride and Groom's family were extremily happy for the both of us It was really neat!!!).

I was aware that he was going to propose...I even helped pick out the ring...the only thing I didn't know was when it was going to happen. I'm glad he didn't tell me because it makes the story that much better. One of my Best Friends and Matron of Honor work together and she had told a co-worker how and when the proposal was to happen and promptly after our co-worker called me and told me what was going on, because she believed I deserved to know...and she thought I wouldn't want to have a MY PROPOSAL done in front of a bunch of people. She explained to me how it all was to happen...I was shocked that she told me and kinda disappointed..but I didn't think my fiencee would do the proposal when our friends were getting married...I DIDN'T want to be the person or persons who stole there lime light. So I called him and asked if it was all true...and of course he denied it. Several hours later My best friend came up to me and she was livid, she was really upset that our co-worker had spilled the beans about the proposal..she promptly told me that it was no longer to happen and my fiencee was just as mad as she was... I cried for 3 days straight because the suprise was ruined not only for myself but for my best friend as well as my fiencee (the two of them had been planning and setting up this for a little while) and I believed I had ruined the window of opportunity they set up.

So, we went out to our friends wedding rehersal and wedding and I was depressed because the plans that were to take place were ruined. Little did I know, I was very wrong!!! We went through the whole rehersal and began the dinner and the Bride and Groom began giving out the Bridal party gifts and she had put mine asside. She called me up to get my gift and began crying, she apoligized to me about the fact that she had to lie to me and the fact that even though we sometimes get dont get along and go through our up's and downs she is always my best friend...she kept crying harder and harder. I began to cry too because I knew what was going to happen, and I turned around and there he was getting ready to Propose and I looked around the room and saw my parents standing there watching the whole thing. I was very happy that this had occured the way it had. I was glad that everyone was involved and happy that no one was mad at us for stealing the lime light for just a little while.

Congratulations!!! Enjoy each other and the planning of your new life together!!!

Skipping a lot of detail; I went to an amusement park (Carowinds)ahead of time and set it up with one of the caricature artists who draws your picture. My Fiancee had no idea. When he turned it around for us to see for the first time, my fiancee was drawn as a damsel in distress and I was a knight in shining armor presenting a ring. My family crest is drawn in the armor. The caption read "Melinda, will you marry me?" We showed it at the reception and it's been on our wall now for 11 years.
