Amitiza - lubiprostone - increases the secretion of fluid in your intestines to help make it easier to pass stools (bowel movements). It is used to treat chronic constipation. If you are taking any other medications at all, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist, some other drugs and vitamins can affect Amitiza. Stop using this medication and get emergency medical help if you think you have used too much medicine, or if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Less serious side effects are more likely, and you may have none at all.
Hope this helps
