i really like the look of it but i'm afraid that it will hurt a ton and is prone to infections and complications, and how would you clean it? If i took it out, would it close up again and if so, how long would that take?

You won't get an infection if you take care of it and go to a reputable piercer to have it done. Any piercing can be infected, but if you are good to your piercing it will be good to you.

Overall, its just about as bad as biting your lip when it comes to the actual piercing. Usually the worst part is that your lip will be swollen for a few days and its a bit awkward to chew/talk for a while, but if you take Motrin or Midol, it won't be all bad. Be warned that the backing of the labret stud can get hooked on your teeth, if it happens just calm down and don't bite on it.

Cleaning it is very simple, wash the outside skin twice daily for the first two weeks with mild soap and water, using a q-tip to remove any crust that is built up on the area. Rinse well to remove excess soap. Recommended soaps are Dial or Satin. Usually after two weeks, washing once daily (typically the end of the day or opposite your showers) is fine.

For the inside, start using a new toothbrush immediately and brush your teeth twice daily if you don't already. Use care when brushing near the piercing as to not knock the jewelry around a lot. Use Biotene after brushing your teeth, eating, drinking and smoking. Biotene is alcohol and saccharin free which is very gentle and will help much more than other harsh mouthwashes.

As far as taking it out, depending on how long its been pierced and how quickly your body heals, it could close up in a matter of days or a matter of weeks or months. Usually with newer piercings of any kind its very important to keep jewelry in at all times because while it might not fully close, the hole can shrink which will make reinserting the jewelry painful if not impossible. With a Monroe, it takes about 3-4 months to fully heal during which time you shouldn't remove the jewelry unless instructed or done by the piercer. Everyone is different, so there is not set time in which it heals from time of initial piercing and no set time from when you take it out to when it will close up.

Hope that answers everything.

I had my monore done and I loved it! It doesn't hurt its very quick but your lip will swell very huge that only last 1-2 days so if you work or go to school do it on your day off. You clean it with the stuff your piercer gives you soap and Sea salt and mouthwash which isn't bad if you get it pierced get some H2O Spray that stuff is amazing! Instead of sea salting it for ten minutes you just spray it on its sea salt in a can I get a bottle for every piercing! Mine fell out when I was sleeping and about 3 hours after I woke up it was closed but I didn't have it done for long. Any other questions message me!

personally i have a beauty mark in the very same spot most people get the piercing and honestly i think it's over rated...why would everyone want a "fake" mole. i mean come on...beautymarks are what make people unique...why would u want to imitate someone else.
