Hopefully you're still able to just use a sponge and water. When the slate was being grouted, the process is to mash the grout between the pieces of slate so it gets down into the grooves well, and then wipe it diagonally with a damp sponge, rinse the sponge and repeat wiping and rinsing until there is no noticeable residue left on the tile. Of course, there really is just a little bit left after it all dries, but this little bit can be wiped away with a damp sponge.

Just water. Once the grout has had a chance to cure, the haze comes off rather nicely with just a sponge, a little warm water and maybe a mild detergent like Dawn liquid. Once this has been done to your satisfaction, then your can glaze both the slate and the grout (sealant).
