Definition: IN the Bible soul is translated from the Hebrew ne'phesh and the Greek psy.khe'. Bible usage shows the soul to a person or and animal or the life that a person or an animal enjoys.

Gen2:7 "Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul" ( notice this does not say that the man was given a soul, but that he became a soul, a living person.

So you see that you are a soul each living person of animal is a soul. In your spare time please read the Scriptures that I have listed from your Bible.

1Cor. 15:45 1Pet. 3:20, Josh. 11:11,

Animals: Gen. 1:20,21,24,25 Lev. 24: 17,18

The soul is a highly vibrated energy that consists of many layers of phycho substances (ousia) and is placed in the cavity of the chest close to the area of the heart. To figure out the nature and structure of the soul, in the Republic Plato investigates the structure of the soul and, there, he shows it to be threefold (Republic, IV, 436a-441d). One part of the soul relates to the body, to the material dimension of being, to the feelings and passions. Plato calls this the "desiring" part, the epithumiai. Another part relates to the mind, the immaterial realities, "forms" and the like, and he calls it the logos. In between is a third part, the one that has to make choices, to lean toward either one or the other of the first two parts, and that he calls the thumos, the "fighting" part, akin to the will. It is linked with the mind that is placed on the top of the head particularly in the area of the epiphysis. The soul is the battery of life. The mind is the library of our knowledge. Logos (spirit) is acquired in the area of the thymus. "Interestingly enough, the word thymus is derived from the Greek thymos...which is untranslatable into modern terms but denoted life force, soul, and feeling or sensibility. As Onians points out, thymos originally referred to the breath. It was the stuff of consciousness, the spirit, the breath-soul, upon which depended a man's energy and courage. Even the earliest origins of the word implied rising into flames, as a cloud, spirit, which relate it to the concept of soul and Life Energy." (Diamond, M.D., page 29). In the stomach area is the solar plegm where all the epithymiai (desires) are. These may affect the free will adversely.

The best answer would most likely be diffused, but biologically speaking, it would most likely reside in the brain because the soul is your consiousness (by my definition at least) and is directly linked to your personality and other aspects, which also all reside in the brain.

Remember, you don't HAVE a soul. You ARE a soul and you HAVE a body.

The soul is the body. You and I are living souls just as the first man Adam was a living soul--
"And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."__Genesis 2:7

The soul is not immortal. The Bible tells us at Ezekial 18:20--"The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Who better to know what happens to souls than the one who created them.

Actually the concept of a metaphysical immortal soul is erroneous, it comes from ancient Babylonian beliefs. Everything written in the Bible (especially when you examine original Hebrew and Greek usage) suggests that the soul is no more than the living creature itself, whether it be human or animal. It is not what you possess, rather it is what you are.

The soul is not in the body. There is a communication chain that links it to the brain.

The soul does not reside IN the body.
The soul IS the body.
Genesis 2:7 "....and the man came to be a living soul. "
Please note: TO BE.
Not To Have.
Man IS a soul.

When you feel love, where do you feel it? The soul is in the heart and his consciousness is spread all over the body.

I'd go with it diffused all over, it's not something you can contain.
