Make sure you wash your hair everyday and don't use moisturizing shampoo. Try to dry out your scalp a little. Don't use styling products on your scalp. This will clog your pours. Try a Neutrogena or Selsum Blue shampoo. That's about all you can do unless you want to go to the dermatologist.

Try Sebulex shampoo which has sulphur. It's great for cleansing your scalp. Use it twice a week and gently massage it over your wet scalp, since that is where you need to heal. Avoid scratching your scalp as you don't want to irritate it further. Next, replace or sterilize your combs and brushes as well so that you don't reintroduce anything to your scalp. If you don't see improvement after a few weeks, go to your dermatologist or a trichologist. Your physician can refer you to one. Good luck.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Make sure you wash your hair and scalp often, especially if you use a lot of hair products. Don't use oils or oily products in your hair since your skin is acne-prone - water-based hair products would be the best. And don't pick!

It is excess oil plus debris like dead skin getting trapped on the hair follicle.Wash with an oil control shampoo to remove the oil, then have your stylist teach you how to do a scalp massage with a brush.

it might be excessive oils that your scalp is producing or you have left it wet for a while.
try to always dry your hair thoroughly before styling
you should go to the derma though it could be a fungus

my brother had the same thing. he went to a dermatologist and they diagnosed it there. they tested the bumps on his head to see if it was a fungus but thankfully it was just pimples so they gave him this special prescribed shampoo. your best bet is to see a dermatologist too because they'll tell you exactly what it is and recommend some over-the-counter stuff or give you the right treatment for it. good luck!
