You may be able to get in but your career assignment will be very limited. The USAF has a program called "the two man concept" that will not allow one person to do anything around combat equipment such as airplanes, nuclear launch programs and many other sensitive areas. Prior to enlistment be sure that the job assignment selections are fully explained by your recruiter because they will be severely limited.

I think my friend that if you have problems as to such where you check into a hospital, then you should not join the military. You will come under so much pressure at times where your buddies will rely on you. If you crack while under this pressure you or your buddies can be killed. Stay away from there please for your own sake. For anybody who comes on here please do not entice this guy to sign up.

Probably not, they do a pretty extensive mental eval on you before you go into service, but through boot camp you gotta be nutz to go through that..You have a GED and since you are not in an institution now that is a plus on your side

honestly.. your chances are slim. it would require a waiver, and right now.. they aren't granting many waivers at all. It also depends on what the diagnosis was.. bi Polar or suicidal thoughts are a Perment DQ with no chance of a waiver..in any branch.

It could. Contact your local recruiter's office ANONYMOUSLY. Be sure to let them know if you are currently on any medications and why you were hospitalized.

depends on the reason you went in and for how long you were in and if you finished your after care. my husband tried to commit suicide in high school and was allowed to join the navy with no problems. he is watched for depression though. no waivers talk to your recruiters
