No, you can't get insurance if you don't own a vehicle. And yes, if you are going to be driving any of your mom's cars you need to be added as a driver on her policy.

no you dont ,and you cant buy insurance without a car to insure , your moms insurance will cover you weather you on it or not , you should be added so the insurance co can take more money from your mom but to those in doubt read the law , the car is insured weather a driver is in it or not . if your car rolls down the hill and hits another car , does the insurance not cover the other car because no driver behind wheel . so it was the not the fault of the driver . is why is called auto insurance

In many states your Mom will have to take out additional insurance since she now has a teen driver using her car. She should call her insurance agent to find out the cost before you drive very much.

Why do people continue to tell others that they can drive their parents cars without being added to the policy?

Why in hell do you think so many people dread putting their kids on their car insurance?

You only need to be on your mother's insurance if you are going to be driving her car. If you just have your license and wont be driving till you can get yourself a car, you can wait till then!
