assisted suicide...I would like to know your thoughts with respect to people who are considered competent and are in debilitating health conditions (physical or mental). You can reason in any way that you would like. I am interested in this subject for research, so I would like to read different opinions.

I am all for assisted suicide for ONLY people who are terminally ill and are on their death bed with no hope of recovery. We do it for our animals, and that's okay, so why is it not okay to put me to sleep--if that's my wish--if I'm in terrible pain and going to die anyway? I've seen the suffering with some of my family members, and it is cruel to keep them alive just to watch them suffer and die.

I have always believed you should live until God saw fit to take your life. However, I also see that living with pain and no hope of recovery would be very hard. I don't know that I agree with it morally but I can certainly see why some people feet the need for it. I do not believe in keeping anyone alive by artificial means unless they can be expected to some lead a decent life. I say take off the artifical life support and let God make the decision whether they life or die at that point.

I believe in the sanctity of life and that it should not be ended prematurely, beyond what is a nature death. However, in saying that, I do believe that I life should be lived with dignity, and if someone is naturally going to be near death, that their life should be prolonged by machinery and technology. I think that if someone is near death and they choose to do so, that they should be allowed to die naturally and not be on life support indefinitely.
