Does anybody know how New York child support enforecement translates to California? I know that New York is very tough and if you are living in California, how does the enforcement order work? I know in New York they actually do a Child Support Audit, regardless of whether the parent is on aid. Then if the amount the parent received doesn't match, they do after the other parent for back child support. If the other parent is living in California, does anybody know if the same laws apply as they relate to wage garnishment?

The order for support stays with the court it was done in If the non custodial move to another state then the order has to be registered in the state he lives, and that state will take the responsibility to enforce it.But out of state case are very hard to enforce.

It happened to me...My ex-wife relocated to Georgia (from NYC). Dekalb County CSE contacted NYC CSE and my salary was garnished for child support....You can run but you can't hide.
