I'm going to buy auto insurance and the rates I'm getting are pretty low, $72.00 per month (Progressive) and $92.00 (Geico). But I picked the state's lowest minimum coverage that was available, and I was wondering if it's safe/okay to do that?

Thanks :)

It's ok as long as you are not worried about fixing your car or your medical bills in an accident. Neither are covered with the low policy. You may want to try getting a full coverage quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Take care,

I am an insurance agent in Pennsylvania and your insurance needs are based on what you have to loose. Usually state minimums are not enough to protect you if have valuables such as own your own home or perhaps a business. How much are you worth, what could you risk loosing? If someone sued you and you only have $5000 worth of property damage liability and you do $15,000 worth of damage or cause serious injury, that person could sue you and you would not have enough insurance to cover your needs. My advice, find a local insurance agent that can help you determine your needs.

It's okay but you'd be surprised at how little more it might cost to bump up to higher coverage. It's not that much more.

I switched to Esurance and got lower rates but better coverage so the cheaper companies (I've heard good things about Progressive and Geico too) are just fine.

Of course it's not safe or ok to do that!

What if you don't have Collision coverage and you crash me on the street?

Why should I have to pay for something that was YOUR fault? You'd be responsible for paying, but I have the feeling things wouldn't work out that way.
