There was a report this morning about salmonella found in ConAgra brand peanut butter, which is Peter Pan & Great Value peanut butter sold at Wal-Mart. The supposedly infected peanut butter starts with the serial number of 2111. I had two jars in my cupboard that I bought a couple of months ago. Is there anything safe to eat anymore?

i called my kids when i heard this and my daughter in georgia had two jars in the pantry. it is scary. just yesterday a friend e-mailed me an article on expired pancake mix. seems a cetain, potentially deadly mold occurs in these and simlar mixes.

most people will just get sick from salmonella, but chronically ill people, like diabetics can really become seriously ill.

my godmother died from salmonella some years ago and i was hospitalized for two weeks - once with salmonella and nearly died from ecoli.

thanks for posting this. you beat me to it. pass it on folks. pass it on.

YOU KNOW I JUST GLANCED AT THE OTHER RESPONSES.
WHY DON'T YOU FOLKS READ THE YAHOO HEADLINES. IT'S ALL THERE IN BLACK AND WHITE.

I also found a jar in my pantry with the number 2111 on the lid. I totally freaked but figured i hadn't bought it very recently. It's probably from the beginning of January. I don't think you should freak until you get the symptos of salmonella.

And i don't think anything is safe to eat anymore. After the ecoli break out, who knows!?!?!

I heard of it, and went to my pantry to check the peanut butter. Luckily we have Safeway brand and JIF. So we're safe. However these scares are just getting stupid. I ate fresh spinach even after the scare was announced. Same thing with green onions. It's getting way out of hand because of paranoid people wanting to file suits.

Yeah I have some in my house that matches the description...but I'll keep it anyway. We're always told things are bad for you and then they turn out good. I'm not going to let it bother me until I fall over with a severe cramp or something.
