Contact the phone company or collection agency first and nicely ask them if they will remove the info from your report. If it was a collection then even if you pay it, your credit will be damaged. Instead of an open collection account it will be satisfied. Most times unless the collectors are evil scum, they will try to work with you and get it taken off. Otherwise I believe it is a matter of waiting. Your mortgage company may still extend you credit based upon the fact that you satisfied the account. Check with your mortgage company and hopefully you get the loan.

Just wait. Your credit score will not instantly go up, but eventually ti will.

Typically, I dont think a late phone bill would ruin an otherwise good credit score. If thats the only think hurting your credit you should explain that to the broker and they will try to work with you .

if you already paid the account the only thing you can do now is wait. it will just take time to get your credit score back up.

you should get a copy of your credit report from exquifax and experian however it is very unlikely you can make a change to it unless there are mitigating circumstances - their websites explain it all.
