I've noticed that before plenty of times. A sneeze just atomizes all the funk and bacteria and old saliva and snot that's building up in your mouth, throat, nose and lungs. Turn all that into a nice fine mist, and you're on your way to stinkville.
That's not a real medical answer, just my assumptions.

A sneeze smells primarily because of halitosis. But it also might smell because each sneeze launches countless microscopic particles into the air. These, coupled with the acid reflux that might be the result of not eating or drinking anything, could cause it to smell.

Maybe he had halitosis which is that bad breath disorder! Tell him to cover his mouth, next time it will stay in his mouth instead of in the air!!

yuk! maybe an infection of some sort,never heard of that either.poor guy probably don't realize it either , don't be to hard on him, if it keeps being a problem ,someone sneak some Listerine in his lunch box or desk, maybe.

really really bad breath....try brushing teeth in morning
also there is a medical condition that makes the breath smell terrible
another option, he coulda farted while he sneezed and u didnt hear it over sneeze

because a stimulus is going by your nasal recepters leading in a signal being sent via the sensory neurons to the olafactory bulb (only senses going to the olafactory bulb bypass the thalamus) which translates the stimulus into a smell for you to precive
