It's on CNN that if you have a container starting with 2111 with generic (walmart?) brand or Peter Pan peanut butter, it may contain SALMONELLA so you should toss it. IF you want your money back, the store may give it to you or you can send the LID to conagra foods. Check their site.

By the way, salmonella can KILL you. I think points are...um..checking..USELESS? So yes, I 'waste' points to save lives. Silly me

I saw another person posted about it, my peanut butter in now in the trash and the lid in the mail. (We had a jar of Peter Pan starting with 2111)

Peter Pan 2111, my mother called me yesterday and told me about this. My 6 yo daughter is ill with flu symtoms, went to the Dr yesterday. He treated her for the Flu. Called him today about the peanut butter that she eats daily. Still waiting for the returned call. This stuff is scary

My mom found out that we had some of that with 2111 on the lid and i had been eating it all week and I didnt get salmonella

Yes, the other peanut butter name is "Great Value".
Another reason, besides flavor, for me to stick to Jif.
