The idea that everythingin California is glamorous like the movies. That and people want to go to the beach. It is not really all that. If you are going for any reason I think it would be to see Yosemite.

I live just outside of Sacramento, CA. This state has more variety than most, and I have been to all but 2 of the 50 States. The Sierra Nevada offer hiking, camping, skiing and about any other activity you can imagine. The weather is very good, Sacramento has been a little weird the last few years, it seems to want to skip spring and fall. It's 90+ F. one day and 50 F. or less the next then it reverses is six months but I can live with it. Sight seeing is spectacular, every imaginable terrain, we even have Big Foot and the list goes on and on.

There are really only two things about this place that makes me want to move; the politics of the state as a whole and the tax structure. Aside from that it is fabulous. We are having some gang problems but I think that is pretty much universal.

If you have a specific question I can be reached through my profile. I will do my best to answer or get you an answer for anything you might have a special interest in.

Many people like the moderate climate, which is rarely very cold in winter and usually more mild than inland states in summer. The scenery is beautiful. The state remains a melting pot, with interesting people from all over the world. There's also the mostly liberal politics and the accepting attitude of most of the people, which is much more welcoming than what is found in many other places.

The west-coast lifestyle and attitude. With images of 11 feet of snow in NY the California weather doesn't hurt either.

I moved to California because of the more embracing attitude of the general population that lives here. Much nicer than the stuffy, conservative Midwest.

Illegal Mexican immigrants flood in because of jobs in the agriculture and building industries, it is also convenient to enter since it has a common border with Mexico.

The rest of the U.S. population move west because of severe winters and overcrowding in their eastern states. California has many industries and many high tech jobs are available. Salaries in Ca is also higher than in the rest of the nation, however not for long. . .There is also more open space for expansion and roaming around.

People in California used to say, 'Welcome to California', now they have added, 'Now go back'
