I read the book Keeping the Faith when I first started dating my boyfriend(he had just gotten out of the USMC at the time). The book helped to to understand what it means to be a Marine, which was helpfull because I haven't had much experiance with the military at all! Now he has re-enlisted and I want to read some more books that will better educate me on what to expect or what he will be going through, so I can understand what he's talking about! Any ideas? **Thank You**

Well there are a few... if you want something specificly adressing you, there is:

"Married to the Military: A Survival Guide for Military Wives, Girlfriends, and Women in Uniform" by Meredith Leyva (Paperback - Jun 30, 2003)

"In Harm's Way: Help for the Wives of Military Men, Police, Emts, & Firefighters" by Aphrodite Matsakis (Paperback - Aug 2005)

"Home Fires Burning: Married to the Military--for Better or Worse" by Karen Houppert (Hardcover - Mar 1, 2005)

"Chicken Soup for the Military Wife's Soul: Stories to Touch the Heart and Rekindle the Spirit (Chicken Soup for the Soul)" by Jack Canfield

"Separated By Duty, United In Love" by Shellie Vandevoorde

"Help! I'm a Military Spouse--I Want a Life Too!: How to Craft a Life for YOU as You Move with the Military" by Kathie Hightower & Holly Scherer

As a girlfriend I liked the first one best, but it just all depends on you. Check out amazon.com, I got my copy of "Married to the Military" used for $3. Your best source, though, is other military girlfriends/wives for advice and any actual questions you may have. usmcgals.com is great.

Best of luck to you and Semper Fi!

Married to the Military: A Survival Guide for Military Wives, Girlfriends, and Women in Uniform by Meredith Leyva......bought it for my wife and it had a lot of useful information. Hope for the Home Front: Winning the Emotional And Spiritual Battles of a Military Wife by Marshele Carter Waddell is also good too.

Morris Berman wrote a good book about the state of America and its impending fall that will mirror Romes fall. Its one of the best books i've read that was extremely informative about issues and american history that you don't learn in school. Also I read a bood on iliberal democracy by Fareed Zakahria. He was on the small panel of men and women that informed the U.S. government that the dismantiling of Saddams regime would be good for long term U.S. success on globilization etc etc.
Although I disagree with this stance, his book was good at pointing out the problem with current governments all over the world democracies.
