Because they are really scared that christians are right. They are scared to be held accountable for their actions in the end.

I suspect that just about everyone finds it easy to judge others, but feels uncomfortable when they are judged.

Judging is a way of claiming superiority over others, and people do it all the time.

Many Atheists here are not members of a "Atheist Society," so there might be a little less social experience, and a little less discipline. Which might translate into seeming to judgmental and thin skinned.

But the same can be true of Christians here as well. Many might follow Christian beliefs but not be in a Congregation, or are in one that doesn't encourage open discussions among its members.

And, of course, I think most people are a little harder on people they don't agree with. Sometimes its conscious, and sometimes it's not.

Why do christians defy their faith and judge others?

You may be mistaking the quest for further knowledge and an attempt at pointing out logical conclussions as passing judgement.

Personally I get offended by christians who try to argue with me like I am an idiot because I question something about their religion. Normally it boils down to me asking legitimate questions and them simply saying because God says so. That's not an answer. All I ever want is a true answer. Most often the christian will get upset and say that I'm a horrible person just because I continue to question them and don't take "Just because" as a valid arguement.

But, I don't judge anyone.. So I'm not sure where you get that.. I see a lot of christians judging people though... I thought that was your God's job and not yours.. Again I'm left with more questions than I'll get answers for.

I am an atheist and I don't like being judged. However it is easy for me to judge. I feel that is the way of the world hence wars.

I don't care if you are Christian or any other religion/non religion it is very easy to judge another person for not believing the same way you do. It takes disciplined thinking to not do it.

I understand your question however, you are being too generalistic in terms of your question and position. From your position Atheists judge "quickly" and then complain when Christians judge them back.Your theory implies that it is wrong to judge and even more wrong to judge quickly. I know the bible states "Do not judge lest ye to be judged." Is that cut dry statement hollow?Because dont you and everyone you know, meet and interact with judge everyone every day at everytime. We do this so we can determine whom is good and whom is bad, who is trust worthy and who isnt and more importantly whom we want to befreind and whom we need to steer clear from. My view is that Judgment and the act of judging is important and if you take away that ability to judge would you not be at the mercy of everyone you came in contact with that chose to decieve you.

Because to an atheist, christians are believing in a fairy tale. It's like if someone came up to you (if you are a christian) and said they they sincerely believed in fairies, and put milk and bread out for them every night. Not only that, but other fairy believers gathered every week to worship the fairies. And that the ancient fairies set down a list of rules for all mankind to live by -- and that they tried their best to follow those rules to the letter...even if some of them don't make sense in modern times.

Sounds kinda nuts, doesn't it?

So, it's not right for atheists to judge christians as they sometimes do, but I'm sure they have a hard time taking christians (and other people who sincerely believe in a god) seriously....because to them, christian beliefs seems as childish/unsophisticated as santa claus.

B/C Christian in general (I am one) cannot articulate or even defend their faith with logic. Often we tend to be emotional and say stupid thing like it's a faith thing. There is an excelant book out now called "The Lanuguage of God." It's be a scientist who worked on the Human Genome project and presents an excellant scientific argument for faith. Good Read

I think it goes both ways. We can't perceive of how the other could live comfortably -
Christians vs. Athiests :believing that God doesn't exist - only experience & science.
Athiests vs. Christians: believing that we're absolutely naive in believing in something we cannot physically SEE.

Well, for one thing I try not to judge people, so perhaps you could not lump everyone into a big old group.

Besides, isn't it kinda a major element of Christianity NOT to judge? I'm pretty sure that's in that book y'all read...
