On average yes they are as your womb already stretched, the baby has more room to fill out in and your 'system' knows what to be doing with the second+ births. The link below is to a forum where mums discuss this very subject....hope it helps you feel reassured!! My one was big enough at 9lb 14oz (2nd) First was 7lb 4oz.

My second child weighed less at birth than my first. However, they were only 17 months apart, so I hadn't completely recovered from having my first child. My third child, born years later weighed over 2 pounds more than either of the first two.

I know that it is a common saying that your second will be bigger then your first, your third bigger then your second and so on, I have also heard it said that boys will be bigger then girls.
My first was 8 lbs 5 ozs, my second 8 lbs 15 ozs and my third was 8 lbs 2 ozs.
However my first and third were boys and my second was a girl. So I guess you can't really go by what every body "says".
Congratulations and best of luck.

My second weighed less by 5 oz (9lb4oz)but the first (9lb9oz)was a boy and second was a girl so that may have been a factor.

My first was 7 lb 7 1/2 oz.; second was 10 lb 4 oz - but the second delivery was much easier.

My 2nd baby was heavier than the first, but I gave up smoking with him, my 3rd baby was lighter than the 1st, so my answer would be yes, but what were the contributing factors? Think it might have had more to do with the smoking, but would be interested to know the true answer myself! Good question. Good luck.

not necessarily - in fact if you are having yoru second within 12 months of your first the birth weight may well be a little lower.
each pregnancy and baby is different.
if you are worried talk to your midwife - she will put your mind at rest
hope this helps
