Fresh, homemade. Use about 3 Roma tomatoes per person that will be served. To remove the skin, put the tomato on a fork and gently heat over a flame(burner) until the skin bursts then put into a bowl of ice water. The skin will peel right off. Then heat the tomatoes in a sauce pan (cut them up a little first), as they heat up they will start to separate. You can use either a hand blender or a potato masher to help it along. If you want a really smooth and creamy sauce put them in a blender before heating. Add other veggies such as finely chopped onions, garlic, and mushrooms for additional flavor and texture. This can all be done a day or two before you have company. Just let it simmer down to the consistency that you want. I hope you enjoy. Good luck.

I use Ragu..traditional or meat flavored.
then I brown any were from half a pound to a whole pound of hamburger or whatever ground meat I have on hand, after I drain the excess liquid off i just add the jar of sauce to make a really nice meat sauce. If you like, Ragu has a vegetarian sauce and you can just add some fresh veggies to it to liven it up some.
Sometimes my kids don't even want the spaghetti, they just eat this piled up on garlic bread. it's really good

Ragu Traditional is the best but i mix tomato juice and tomato sauce with it and cook it for a few hours. Also its good to have some browned meat or pork in the sauce. It gives a good flavor.

The best spaghetti sauce, in my opinion, is Prego. It comes in a variety of flavors such as mushroom and red pepper, spicy tomato, etc... And if you are craving your own flavor, just doctor it up with some herbs and spices, or even Italian sausage. Boil your pasta, toast your garlic bread, and you've got one great spaghetti meal!! Bellisima!!

Make your own! Just a can of supermarket tomato sauce, simmered with some fresh tomatoes, basil, maybe a little onion or fresh garlic, on low heat for a half hour and you're done! Other things you can add are diced green bell pepper and fresh garlic.

Aside from my own homemade red sauce (Marinara), I have to admit that in when I'm in a pinch for time, I've found that I keep gravitating toward the Classico brand in the jar at the local grocery.....The flavor seems more concentrated "tomatoey" than others......and the varieties that it comes in, I'm sure you'll find one that suits your taste buds.........BTW, the magazine Cooks Illustrated (my cooking Bible) a couple years ago, rated Classico as their most recommended in blind taste tests...........so there ya go!!!
