i was with someone for almost 3 years, we were basically almost engaged, got my heart broken badly, but i still have feelings for her, even though she backstabbed me over and over again... i kno its stupid of me to still care, but the truth of it is that i do care, any suggestions for how i can help myself to stop caring... i have been talkin to other girls, and going out with friends, but i still care about her, and i wish id just stop.... can anyone give sound reasonable advice?

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and move on... find something else to fall in love with, like a car or your dog etc... Channel the energy into other things like that... Completely cut contact... Don't drink too much or take too many drugs, that just ***** you up (the hangovers especially)!! Get yourself a new reason to be happy in the mornings and after work, whether it be a new hobby or anything just get stuck into it... works every time guaranteed

You can't make yourself stop caring. You really loved this person and that doesn't just go away. The feelings will fade with time, but you will always still care. Just learn from your mistakes - this apparently was one since kept backstabbing you - and take your time moving on. Don't just jump back in another relationship thinking it will make you forget about this one. There's no rush.

You don't need to stop caring. It sounds like you are a caring person to begin with. I know that if something happend to someone I had dated for 3 years I would still care. What you need to do is find other things that take priority over your caring for her. Find a really interesting hobby and enjoy being with yourself before you find another girlfriend.

Sounds like you are in the same boat as me!! I just lost the love of my life of 4 years and it seems like it is nothing to do to get him off my mind!! But when ever i am out having a good time i think less about it! Maybe it is just going to take a little time!

You need to start reminding yourself of all the "backstabbing" she did to you. You deserve better. Move on, and find someone that will care for you.

When ever i am trying to get over someone i try to do as much as i can away from them. I get invoved with other activities and hang out with people that aren't friends with the person i am trying to get over. Eventually you will come across someone that will your mind away from that other person. No inappropriate behavior needed.

quit smoking. if you become numb....that's what she wants you to do. she's hoping you will crumble up and die and keep on thinking about her forever while she doesnt give you the time of day. yeah, give all your heart and soul to her and stop loving. does it sound reasonable of her to hope that you are crushed forever ?
my advice is to quit smoking and breath new life into yourself and new hope. peace

I would try to go out with your friends, meet someone new, trust me, meeting someone new will always help you get over an ex.

im going thru the same thing. ive been concentrating on myself and always remind myself what they did and that i deserve better and want better. you cant force no one to love you. so exceptance is the key to letting go. once you do that it gets easier. just except it. then you can move on.

if you really loved her, it will just take time. it seems endless now but one morning you'll wake up and feel a whole lot better. Good luck and God Bless
