Tell her that she is a Big girl and that pacifiers are for baby's. Nanny 911 told a story about a Pacifier Fairy..If I remember correctly you tell you child that the Pacifier Fairy takes them and gives them to babies that really need them you have a good by party for them set them outside for the fairy to pick up and in the morning there is a new big girl toy to replace the pacifiers. If that doesn't work, you'll just have to listen to her cry. I think that by putting her pacifier on the floor and making her suck on it is degrading and I would hope no one would ever do that to their child. I like the old rule out of sight out of mind. It might be a tough 2 weeks or so but if you are that instant on getting rid of her pacifier now then you will just have to deal with her crying. Did you ask you dentist or Dr. when they recomend getting rid of her pacifier?

One of my girls used it until they wer 2 1/2. I started limiting it to only naps and bedtime. That lasted for about 1 week. Then I would make her place it on the dresser for naps and only use it for bedtime. After another week, we just threw it out and she was fine with it. Try limiting its use for a short time.

If you don't want to take it away all together give her a special place to put it and she can only have it a naps and bedtime. It was easier for me to take my daughters pacifier away all together.

My daughter was the same way and I would give her a Twizler when she wanted it...finally she gave up. I know that was bad for her teeth but she didn't get one that often and it distracted her, when she puts it down and she walks away take it....tell her Dora said no no....it worked for me...good luck..replace a habit with a better one...
