How much should I tip for hotel housekeeping? I typically do 3 night stays.

In the past I have left $1-$2 (but that was in the 80s). I would leave about $5 a night. Be sure to leave a note that the $ is for the maid. I suggest leaving something each day since a different maid may be tidying the room.

Every little bit helps. The certainly work very hard at their jobs.

i work in a hotel (management) and my housekeeping staff is amazing they work so hard! it really makes me mad when people trash the room and dont' leave a tip. or just stay in there for a while (2-3 nights) and no tip. 2-5 bucks is good. I know the girls really do appreciate any notes that you (guests) leave them, such as: great job! we appreciate how clean the room was! Thanks so much!
you can leave the tip everynight you are there (1-2 bucks) or at check out. keep in mind, it WILL be a different housekeeper that cleans your room everyday you are there. make sure if you are not checking out yet and want to leave a tip, to leave a note that money is for them, or they will not take it.

$1 per night, per person staying there. So if it's you and another person staying in the room, it'd be $6 for the 3 night stay. I'd increase/decrease the amount based on the level of service.

Betsy has the right idea about tipping daily because it isn't the same maid everyday. I'd say $2 to $5 depending on how much is done on your behalf.

It really depends on how much you need them to do during your stay.

If you have them do everything every day, then I'd tip 'em good.

If you didn't want maid service for all those days, I'd tip a small amount.

I used to work for Motel 6 and I was Welcome Guest in front office I would check people in and the girls that would clean the rooms would rarely get any tips for all their hard work!! I used to get mad because I knew how hard these girls work for them not to get a dime from these people. But it will be nice for you to leave what ever is in your heart and can afford to leave.
